General Questions - FAQ

What does Crescent do?
Crescent Psychological Services specializes in educational psychology. We help children by building the skills they need to be confident, regulated, and engaged, while helping parents gain clarity, a clear path for supporting their child at home, and actionable guidance for securing meaningful support at school. Our goal is to make sense of what is hard, heal what is hurting, and restore your peace.

What services do you offer?
Crescent Psychological Services provides a range of tailored support services, including:

  • Comprehensive Psycho-educational evaluations
  • Legally defensible Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs)
  • Special Education Consultation
  • Individual Counseling/Coaching for children
  • Parent consultation and coaching

How much do services cost?
Consultation, counseling, and coaching are billed at $200 per 50-minute session.

How much do assessments cost?
Assessment fees vary depending on the scope and complexity of the evaluation. Most comprehensive assessments range from $4,000–$6,000 and are billed as stand-alone services. We will work collaboratively to co-create an assessment plan that will meet the needs of your child and prior to beginning, you will receive a written cost proposal detailing what is included.

Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) are often funded by the school district (technically provided at public expense), when parents disagree with a district’s evaluation. Additional information about IEEs, when it is appropriate to request one from your school district, and how to request an IEE is provided below.

Do you take insurance?
Crescent is currently an out-of-network provider for Anthem. A SuperBill can be provided so families may seek possible reimbursement from their insurance company.

Do you offer in-person or virtual services?
Crescent Psychological Services offers both in-person and virtual services, depending on the nature of the service and your family’s needs. We will do our best to accommodate your preference.

What can I expect if my family begins services?
Services begin with an intake process focused on understanding your concerns, goals, and priorities. Based on this collaboration, recommendations will be made for a customized assessment/and or treatment plan. You can trust that every recommendation we make will be research-validated and based on best practices. The work we do together will be compassionate, ethical, and driven by the specific needs of your child.

How do I get started?
Getting started begins with a free 15-minute consultation. This is a brief, supportive conversation where we discuss your concerns, review your child’s history, and identify possible next steps. Any recommendations will be specific to your child’s needs and there will never be any pressure to commit before you are ready.
